Listen to Scarlett Johannson?

Scarlett Johannson is widely regarded as a bombshell. Some also regard her as lacking the skills to act her way out of a bag. I'm more in the former group and less able to care about the latter.

She put out an album a little while back of Tom Waits covers. That mad scientist's abortion, I am definitely not recommending.

I am recommending that you check out two of the songs she does on an album she recorded with Pete Yorn in 2006, but that was released this year : Relator and Blackie's Dead.

They're getting tons of radio play on KCRW. Also, they were on live today, so you can probably hear/see that performance on KCRW's site in the Morning Becomes Eclectic archives.

The tracks are fun, poppy, alt-country-ish and sing-a-long-able. They'll stick in your head. As for your opinion of ScarJo, I'm not sure what this will do one way or the other.

Well OK then.

Welcome to my music blog. For a few years now, I've been blabbing on to this or that friend or relative about music that I like. Much of the time, they actually like what I've played for them. Sometimes, the tech savvy among them have said I should start a music blog. So here goes.

I also made a resolution (that just happens to coincide with the Jewish new year) that I should cook for myself more often (well that is to say, at all since more often implies that I was cooking previously which I was not). Again, maybe it was just one instance too many of a friend or relative mocking my steady diet of Trader Joe's prepared meals. So once in a while, more for me than for you, dear and infrequent reader, I'll also post about my adventures in unskilled cooking.

Thanks in advance to anyone who reads and helps me cook. Thanks also to anyone who reads and recommends some music to me in return. I also love to hear feedback if you like something I've recommended.
